1. UNKNOWN MURDER SOLVED
 

Bidanasi Police detected the intriguing death of Kuna @ Thakur Prasad Dalei, whose dead body was recovered near Talcher Kothi Chhak. On the basis of post mortem report and diligent investigation, it was proved that arising out of sudden provocation, veteran criminal Raja @ Jitendra Bastia assaulted the deceased by means of a cricket stump on his chest, resulting in rupture and subsequent death. In a swift investigation, Raja @ Jitendra Bastia was apprehended and on the basis of further investigation, his associate Babu @ Dayanidhi Behera, who had also participated in the crime, was also apprehended. Both the accused were forwarded in custody and were remanded to jail on 09.02.11, on the basis of an FIR vide Bidanasi PS Case No.10 u/s 302/34 IPC, which was registered on 08.02.11.

 
2. SADAR PS DETECTS AN UNKNOWN ROBBERY CASE
 

On 19.06.10, an incident of robbery of cash and other valuables was report by Sri Sambit Rout at Sadar PS of Cuttack Urban Police District. While the accused were unknown, the incident had happened in a lonely place on Biribati Canal Road during the dead hours of the night. Undertaking a swift investigation, Sadar PS staff arrested 2 accused and recovered some amount of robbed cash from their possession.

 
3. MALGODOWN PS DETECTS A COMPLICATED MURDER CASE
 

On 23.04.10, a case of missing and suspected kidnapping of Ramesh Ch. Biswal was reported at Malgodown PS. On 25.04.10, his dead body was discovered in the thick forest area of Kalinga Ghat under G.Udaygiri PS of Kandhamal district. On the basis of a swift investigation, mostly conducted through technical devices, 7 accused persons were identified to have committed the kidnapping and murder. Incriminating articles including fire arms, vehicle of transportation etc. were recovered. All the seven accused were arrested and forwarded in custody. The motive of the murder was established to be dispute arising out of sale and purchase of land amongst the deceased and the accused.

 
4. MANGALABAG POLICE RECOVERS STOLEN MOTOR CYCLES
 

There were repeated instances of theft of motor cycles from the campus of SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack. Mangalabag Police on the basis of a tip-off, arrested four accused from different areas of Cuttack and Jajpur district. From the possession of the accused as well as receivers, 20 stolen motor cycles were recovered, of which 19 were tagged to cases of Mangalabag PS. Thus, Mangalabag PS not only busted a gang of criminals indulging in 2-wheeler thefts but also recovered large number of stolen motor cycles which was widely appreciated.

 
5. SWIFT DETECTION OF A SENSATIONAL ROBBERY
 

On 12.12.09, Rajesh Agrawal, a businessman of Malgodown, Cuttack was robbed of cash of INR 8.05 lakhs while he was returning in his motor cycle from his place of work. Reportedly, two accused had intercepted him by showing a fire arm and then took away the cash from his motor cycle dicky. In this connection, Mangalabag P.S.Case No.200 dtd.12.12.2009 u/s 395 IPC r/w 25/27 Arms Act was registered. In a swift investigation conducted by Mangalabag Police, four accused were arrested and from their possession, cash of INR 7.20 lakhs were recovered.

 
6. SIEZURE OF ARMS AND AMMUNITION
 

On the basis of a credible information, a team of special squad  of Cuttack apprehended a gang of criminals during the intervening night of 12/13.01.2010 night at OMP Square near Trinath Temple. From their possession, 7 Pistols (Mouzers), One revolver, 805 rounds of live ammunitions, 1 knife, 6 empty magazine cases etc. were seized. Two accused in this connection were arrested and forwarded to the court of SDJM, Sadar, Cuttack and have been remanded to Jail custody. This is one of the biggest arms recovery of recent times which earned high appreciation from  members of general public.

 
7. RECOVERY OF BURGLED PROPERTY
 

On the written report of Sri Balasubramanian Ramakrishnan, Chauliaganj P.S. Case No. 146 U/s 457/380 IPC was registered on 21.10.09. In this case, property worth of INR 7,50,000/- had been burgled by the criminals.

During investigation, seven accused were apprehended and the stolen ornaments i.e. gold necklace, gold chains, gold coins, gold finger rings, American diamond fitted gold rings, Dubai gold chains, gold necklace set, gold ear tops along with Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone, one stolen Ipod, foreign coins etc. were recovered.
 
8. FORGERY & CHEATING CAUGHT ON CCTV
 

On 22.5.09, one unknown person identifying himself as an agent for peerless Group, approached a well known octogenarian doctor at his residence, offering to encash the latter's Insurance policies on payment of INR 50/- towards DD charges through an AC payee cheque. He requested for a glass of water and when the doctor went to fetch the same, the accused tore away a few blank cheque leaves from the cheque book. The same were later used for withdrawing cash to the tune of INR 52,000/- from SBI, Chandi Square branch and INR 29,000/- from IOB, Satyanagar branch, Bhubaneswar from the bank accounts of the doctor by forging his signature. After receiving a complaint, Cantonment police took the help of CCTV footage of SBI, Chandi Square branch to identify and arrest the accused. During  investigation, he was found to be involved in at least 6 other cases of Cuttack with similar modus-operandi. Valuable assets purchased by the accused from his ill-gotten wealth including one Maruti Alto  car, one Hero Honda motor cycle, computer, TV, refrigerator, cash to the tune of INR 3,53,500/- etc. were recovered from his possession.
