MAN GETS LIFER FOR KILLING OVER LAND DISPUTE

On 14.7.2008, Kabi Behera and Arjun Behera, being instigated by Baby  Mujan @ Sk. Tohid, a real estate dealer,  murdered Kalandi Patra in a paddy field at Ebaranga Mouza under Airfield PS limits over a dispute relating to an illegal  land deal. In  this connection, Airfield PS Case No.181 dtd.14.7.2008 u/s 302/34 IPC was registered and investigated into.  A prompt investigation followed during which accused  Kabi Behera was arrested, weapon of offence recovered  and the case chargesheeted u/s 302/114/34 IPC.

In its judgement dtd.31.3.2011 Hon’ble Adhoc Addl. Sessions Judge, FTC-IV, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Kabi Behera u/s 302/34 IPC to undergo  rigorous imprisonment for life and to pay a fine of INR 5,000/-.

LIFE TERM FOR KILLING SPOUSE

In the intervening night of 12/13.2.2008, Narasingha Jena @ Bhalu  murdered his wife Smt. Basanti Jena suspecting her involvement in   an extra -marital affair and later burnt her body by pouring kerosene over it. In  this connection, Sahidnagar PS Case No.64 dtd. 14.2.2008 U/s 302 IPC was registered and investigated into. Accused husband Narasingha Jena was promptly arrested and forwarded to judicial custody.

In its judgement dtd.15.5.2011, the Hon’ble Addl. Sessions Judge, FTC-IV, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Narasingha Jena u/s 302 IPC to undergo imprisonment for life with a fine of INR 10,000/-.

LIFE TERM FOR KILLING SPOUSE

On 6.6.10 night, accused Surya Nayak, an alcoholic, strangulated his wife Chanchala Nayak to death. In this connection, Mahila  PS Case No. 72 dtd. 7.6.2010 u/s 498(A)/302 IPC was registered and investigated into. During course of investigation the  accused husband was arrested and forwarded to judicial custody and the case chargesheeted against him.

In its judgement dtd. 27.6.2011, the Hon’ble Adhoc Addl. Judge, FTC-3, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Surya Nayak u/s 302 IPC to undergo imprisonment for life and rigorous imprisonment for three years u/s 498(A) IPC.

UNCLE DUO GETS LIFE TERM FOR KILLING NIECE

On 17.5.2007 night Ranjan Kumar Pati and Sukanta Pati brutally murdered their niece Pinky @  Anusaya Pati by torching her  to death  during dead hours of the night, after  suspecting  her involvement in a love affair.  The incident was initially registered as a case of unnatural death on the report of family members, but later, it was turned to Balianta PS Case No. 109 dtd. 7.6.2008 U/s 436/302/201/34 IPC  after an eye witness appeared before the electronic media and disclosed  it as a case of murder, allegedly committed by the family members themselves. After painstaking investigation, the case was chargesheeted  the uncles of the deceased girl.

In its judgement dtd. 9.9.2011, Hon’ble Adhoc Sessions Judge, FTC-3, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Ranjan Kumar Pati  and Sukanta Pati u/s 302/34 IPC to undergo imprisonment for life and fine of INR1000/- , to undergo rigorous imprisonment for five years and fine of INR 1000/- u/s 436/34 IPC  as well as to undergo  rigorous imprisonment for one year u/s 201/34 IPC.

LIFE TERM FOR SENSATIONAL MURDER OF JUDO COACH BIRANCHI DAS

On 13.4.2008 evening dreaded anti-social Raja @  Sandeep Acharya alongwith accomplice   Chagala @ Akhaya Behera shot the famous  Judo Coach Biranchi Das to death at Judo Hall, Bhubaneswar.  In this connection, Badagada PS Case No. 64 dtd. 13.4.08 u/s 302/34 IPC r.w. 25/27 Arms Act was registered and investigated into.  After meticulous probe and  painstaking collection of  credible forensic, technical, documentary evidences including Polygraph test, CDR analysis, Voice Spectrograph  analysis etc., , accused Raja @ Sandeep Acharya and Chagala @ Akhaya Behera were  chargesheeted  in the case. The trial of the case was also closely monitored.

In a land mark judgement dtd. 13.12.10, the Hon’ble Court of Adhoc. Addl. Sessions Judge, FTC-3, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Raja @ Sandeep Acharya and Chagala @ Akhaya Behera u/s 302/34 IPC to undergo imprisonment for life and to pay a fine of INR 10,000/- each, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for seven years u/s 120-B IPC as well as rigorous imprisonment for three years u/s 25/27 Arms Act.

MURDER MOST FOUL

On 10.3.2010 night, Sachi @ Kalia Bhoi  alongwith accomplice Paga @ Suchitra Mallik strangulated deceased Bapi @ Lingaraj Muduli to death over a dispute relating to distribution of daily wage money,  threw the deadbody from a culvert on Bhubaneswar-Jatni road and fled from the spot. In this connection, Airfield PS Case No. 27. dtd. 11.3.2010 u/s 302/34 IPC was registered and investigated into. After completion of investigation, the case was chargesheeted against Sachi @ Kalia Bhoi u/s 364/302/34 IPC and investigation kept open for collection of further evidence in respect of accused Suchitra Mallik.

In its judgement dtd. 29.11.11, Adhoc Addl. Sessions Judge, FTC, Bhubaneswar convicted accused Sachi @ Kalia Bhoi u/s 302/34 IPC to undergo life imprisonment and to pay a fine of INR 2,000/- as well as to undergo rigorous imprisonment  for three years and to pay a fine INR 2,000/- u/s 364/34 IPC.

CONVICTION OF A DREADED ANTI-SOCIAL

On the intervening night of 17/18.12.10 on receipt of credible information, a  police team chased dreaded anti-social Siba @ A. Enktesh for his involvement in a robbery case of Sahidnagar PS. Siba @ A.Enktesh opened fire at the police team to facilitate his escape but the police  personnel returned fire and apprehended the dreaded criminal. The weapon of offence, life ammunitions and cash was also recovered from his possession. In this connection Infocity PS Case No. dtd. 143 dtd. 18.12.2010 u/s 307/332/34 IPC r.w 25/27 Arms Act was registered and investigated into.

In its judgement dtd. 29.11.11, the Hon’ble Court of Addl. CJM.ASJ, Bhubaneswar convicted accused  Siba @ A.Enktesh u/s 307 IPC as well as  rigorous imprisonment for three years each and two months each for offences u/s 25(1-B)(a) and 27(1) of Arms Act.
